Zubeen Garg's Final Resting Place Set in Sonapur: Reports

As people of Assam bid farewell to Zubeen Garg, reports have indicated that his final resting place will be Sonapur, on the outskirts of Guwahati.

Reports citing sources have claimed that the final resting place of the Heartthrob of Assam has been designated at Hatimura in Sonapur, on the outskirts of Guwahati.

Preparations are underway at the site to ensure a dignified cremation for the legendary singer.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma conducted a video conference to review the arrangements, with the Chief Secretary personally supervising the groundwork. Yesterday, the Chief Minister announced that a Cabinet meeting would take place this evening at 6 PM to finalise the cremation venue.

As of this report, Zubeen’s cortege is making its slow journey to the Arjun Bhogeswar Baruah Sports Complex in Sarusajai, where fans and well-wishers can pay their final respects to the musical maestro who left an indelible mark on Assam’s cultural legacy.

Zubeen Garg passed away on September 19 during a diving accident, which is currently under investigation. Several FIRs were filed across Assam following the incident, and all these were later consolidated into one FIR and handed over to the CID.

Sources stated that an investigation into the incident has been initiated and many people who were present on the yacth are to be questioned. Organisers of the North East Festival, in which Zubeen Garg was supposed to take part, are also to be questioned.
