Dharmendra Hospitalised in Mumbai; Family Confirms He Is Stable and Recovering

Veteran Bollywood actor Dharmendra, 89, has been admitted to Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai, where he is currently under close medical observation. His hospitalization has sparked widespread concern among fans and colleagues across the film fraternity.

On Monday, actor Sunny Deol visited the hospital along with his sons Karan and Rajveer Deol to check on Dharmendra’s condition. The trio was spotted by the paparazzi outside the hospital, with Sunny seen shielding his face from cameras. Their visit came shortly after Hema Malini was seen entering the hospital premises.

Amid speculation that the legendary actor was on life support, Sunny Deol’s team issued a clarification, dismissing the rumours as “exaggerated.” The official statement read:

“Mr Dharmendra is stable and under observation. Further comments and updates will be shared as available. We request everyone to pray for his speedy recovery and respect the family’s right to privacy.”

Speaking to Times of India, Sunny said, “It’s rumour mongering like always. Sir is getting better. He’s under observation. There’s nothing to worry.”

Meanwhile, Hema Malini also spoke to Hindustan Times, saying, “We’re hoping for his speedy recovery.” She later posted an update on social media, writing,

“I thank everyone for their concern about Dharam ji, who is in hospital for observation. He is being continuously monitored, and we are all with him. I request you all to pray for his welfare and speedy recovery.”

Adding to the list of visitors, Salman Khan was also spotted at Breach Candy Hospital late in the evening. The superstar arrived with heavy security to inquire about Dharmendra’s health.

Earlier, Dharmendra’s team clarified that the actor’s hospital visits were often for routine medical examinations, emphasizing that there was “no cause for concern.” On October 31, his representatives said,

“He is in good health and frequently visits the hospital for regular medical tests. Someone must have spotted him during one such visit, which seems to have sparked unnecessary panic among fans.”

In a separate development, reports also confirmed that veteran actor Prem Chopra had been admitted to Lilavati Hospital over the weekend. His family assured that there was no cause for alarm regarding his condition.

Dharmendra, fondly known as the ‘He-Man of Bollywood, is one of Indian cinema’s most iconic figures. The actor, who turns 90 on December 8, 2025, was last seen in Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya (2024) alongside Shahid Kapoor and Kriti Sanon, and in Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahani (2023).

Having made his debut with Dil Bhi Tera Hum Bhi Tere in 1960, Dharmendra has delivered timeless classics such as Sholay, Dharam Veer, Mera Gaon Mera Desh, and Dream Girl.

The veteran star’s next appearance will be in ‘Ikkis’, marking the debut of Amitabh Bachchan’s grandson Agastya Nanda, slated for release on December 25, 2025.

As fans continue to flood social media with prayers and wishes, the family has urged everyone to remain calm and await official updates on the actor’s recovery.
