According to reports, Mirjuma was found hanging in her room by other residents of the PG, following which local authorities were alerted. A team from Dispur Police Station reached the spot shortly afterward and initiated an investigation.

Initial findings suggest that the student may have taken the extreme step due to academic pressure, as she had reportedly failed in three subjects. However, her family members have told police that they do not suspect any foul play in the incident.

The body has been sent to the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) for post-mortem examination. It will be handed over to the family for transportation to Bongaigaon, where the final rites will be performed.
