Assam: Large Haul of Drugs Worth ₹5 Lakh Seized in Guwahati, Two Held

Guwahati: In an anti-narcotics operation, a joint team of Guwahati Police and the Special Operations Group (SOG) intercepted a car (registration AS-01-GN-0247) at Pamohi on the outskirts of the city and seized a huge quantity of illegal drugs along with ₹63,000 in cash.

Two drug suppliers, identified as Tapan Sharma and Pari Boro, were arrested on the spot.

Police recovered two soap cases packed with high-grade narcotics believed to have been sourced from Manipur and destined for distribution across various parts of Guwahati, Assam.

Police said the duo had been running a long-standing drug supply network in the city. The seized contraband is estimated to be worth approximately ₹5 lakh in the local market.

The vehicle used for transportation has also been impounded. Interrogation of the arrested individuals is continuing, and further arrests are expected as police work to dismantle the entire supply chain.
