Guwahati: Cosmetics store gutted in massive fire at Basistha Chariali

A devastating fire broke out at a cosmetics store in Basistha Chariali, reducing the entire shop to ashes before firefighters could bring the blaze under control.

The incident occurred at Sarma Cosmetics, a shop owned by local businessman Amarjit Sharma. The fire is believed to have originated inside the store and spread rapidly, leaving no time to save the merchandise or equipment.

According to the shop owner, a short circuit may have triggered the fire, though the exact cause is yet to be officially confirmed. By the time the fire brigade arrived at the spot, the shop had already been completely burned down, resulting in heavy losses.

Authorities are investigating the incident, while locals expressed concern over recurring fire incidents in the area and the need for improved safety measures.
