Guwahati: NPP Leader Accused of Attempting to Kill Wife After Being Caught With Alleged Girlfriend

A shocking incident unfolded in the Ganeshguri area of Guwahati, where a woman was allegedly assaulted in public after she caught her husband with another woman at a roadside juice shop on Thursday evening. 

The incident, which took place on a busy footpath, was captured on mobile cameras and has since gone viral on social media.

Eyewitness videos show a heated scuffle between the two women, during which the victim was allegedly dragged and beaten. The visuals also suggest that the husband attempted to seriously harm his wife during the confrontation.

The complainant further alleged that the accused leader had married her five years ago through deception and had previously married two other women. She also claimed that one of his former wives had died under suspicious circumstances, and serious allegations including murder had been raised against him in the past.

The accused is reported to be closely associated with the Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma, a claim that has added political sensitivity to the case.

Following the incident, the victim lodged a formal First Information Report (FIR) at Dispur Police Station. Police officials confirmed that the complaint has been registered and that an investigation is underway. Authorities are examining video evidence and statements from witnesses to ascertain the sequence of events and verify the allegations.

No official statement has yet been issued by the accused or the National People’s Party regarding the incident.
