He is scheduled to attend a mega Bodo cultural event and set to launch major infrastructure and rail projects on Sunday.DY365 Jan 17, 2026 17:45 ISTPrime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Guwahati on Saturday evening at around 5.20 pm, kicking off a packed two-day visit to Assam that blends grand cultural celebrations with high-value development initiatives across the state.AdvertismentSoon after landing, the Prime Minister is set to proceed to Sarusajai Stadium, where he will attend a large-scale traditional Bodo cultural programme, one of the most anticipated events of his Assam itinerary.The highlight of the evening will be Bagurumba Dwhou 2026, an unprecedented cultural showcase honouring the legacy and traditions of the Bodo community. In a rare spectacle, over 10,000 Bodo performers will take to the stage to present the iconic Bagurumba dance in a single, synchronised formation.Artistes representing all 81 Assembly constituencies from 23 districts of Assam are participating in the programme, underscoring its scale and making it one of the largest cultural performances ever mounted in the state.On Sunday, the Prime Minister will travel to Kaliabor, where at around 11 am he will lay the foundation stone for the Kaziranga Elevated Corridor Project, a major infrastructure venture with an estimated investment of over Rs 6,950 crore.At the same event, Prime Minister Modi will also flag off two Amrit Bharat Express services — the Guwahati (Kamakhya)–Rohtak and Dibrugarh–Lucknow (Gomti Nagar) trains — aimed at enhancing long-distance rail connectivity between the Northeast and northern India.Following the Kaliabor programme, the Prime Minister is scheduled to return to Guwahati by helicopter at approximately 12.15 pm before departing for New Delhi from Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport around 1 pm aboard a special aircraft.ALSO READ: Assam Gears Up: What Makes PM Modi’s Upcoming Visit Different This Time?AdvertismentAdvertisment Read the Next Article
