Speaking after her visit, Gandhi clarified that she did not wish to politicise Zubeen’s legacy. “I do not want to do any politics over Zubeen Garg. That is why I came here quietly to offer my respects,” she said.

Describing Zubeen Kshetra as a sacred place for the people of Assam, she emphasised that the artist’s memory transcends political lines. “It is not right to indulge in politics over Zubeen. He is an emotion for us,” she remarked.

Gandhi said every household in Assam had mourned his loss and noted that people across India had shared in the grief during that difficult time. Calling him “the voice of Assam’s soul,” she said Zubeen spoke about the state’s civilisation, culture and identity through his music.

“We are fighting for the very values Zubeen stood for,” she added, reiterating that his legacy stands above political considerations.

Her visit to Zubeen Kshetra comes amid her ongoing Assam tour, during which she has been addressing public gatherings and meeting party leaders.
