Dalai Lama Wins First Grammy at 90 for Spoken-Word Album on Peace and Meditation

Spiritual leader the Dalai Lama has been honoured with his first-ever Grammy Award at the age of 90, marking a historic moment in his lifelong journey of spreading peace, compassion, and self-reflection.

His spoken-word album Meditations: The Reflections of His Holiness the Dalai Lama won the award for Best Audio Book, Narration, and Storytelling Recording in the spoken-word category at the 68th Annual Grammy Awards. The album presents his teachings, thoughts, and meditative wisdom through calm narration, aiming to guide listeners towards inner peace and mindfulness.

Released to wide appreciation across the world, the album reflects the Dalai Lama’s spiritual philosophy and message of harmony. The international recognition further strengthens his global legacy as a moral and spiritual guide.

The Grammy Awards ceremony was held in Los Angeles and saw the presence of several well-known personalities from the global entertainment industry.

Reacting to the honour, the Dalai Lama shared a post on Instagram, saying that “I receive this recognition with gratitude and humility. I don’t see it as something personal, but as a recognition of our shared universal responsibility. I truly believe that peace, compassion, care for our environment, and an understanding of the oneness of humanity are essential for the collective well-being of all eight billion human beings.
