Israel has confirmed carrying out a series of air strikes inside Iran, targeting missile infrastructure and air defence systems that it says posed a direct threat to the country.

In a statement released on Thursday, the Israeli Air Force (IAF) said its fighter jets struck and destroyed a ballistic missile launcher in Iran that had been prepared for an imminent launch toward Israel. The operation reportedly took place in the Kam region, where the launcher had been armed and positioned for immediate use.

The IAF also said the strikes were aimed at weakening Iran’s defensive capabilities in the area. According to the statement, an air defence system in Isfahan—believed to be intended for targeting Israeli aircraft—was also destroyed during the operation.

The Israeli military described the strikes as part of a wider campaign to degrade what it called Iran’s offensive missile infrastructure and to maintain operational dominance in the air.

Additional details reported by The Times of Israel, citing the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), indicated that the operation involved multiple targets across Iran. During a press briefing, IDF spokesperson Brigadier General Effie Defrin said that more than 20 sites were hit in the coordinated strikes.

Among the locations targeted were two facilities in Isfahan where Iran is believed to store advanced Ghadr ballistic missiles. Other sites included storage depots for ballistic and cruise missiles as well as components of Iran’s air defence network.

Defrin said the operation caused significant damage to Iran’s missile capabilities. “We estimate that dozens of ballistic and cruise missiles were neutralised during the strikes,” he said.
