To perform Rudra Abhishek, you will need:

•    Milk (preferably cow’s milk)
•    Yogurt
•    Ghee
•    Honey
•    Gangajal (holy water)
•    Sandalwood paste
•    Vibhuti (sacred ash)
•    Bel (Bilva) leaves
•    Kalava (sacred thread)
•    Copper or brass vessel
•    Dhatura flowers
•    White flowers

What To Do on Maha Shivratri

•    Wake up early during Brahma Muhurat.
•    Take a bath and wear clean clothes (white is considered auspicious).
•    Take a vow (Sankalp) to observe the fast.
•    Meditate and chant Shiva mantras.
•    Offer Bel leaves, Datura, white flowers, and fruits to the Shiva Linga.
•    Apply sandalwood paste instead of turmeric.
•    Perform puja during Nishita Kaal or throughout the four prahars (night periods).
•    If fasting, consume fruits, milk, and vrat-friendly food.
•    Maintain purity and self-discipline during the fast.
