Assam: ‘Gully Boy’ Set to Rock Silchar on Makar Sankranti Festival

Silchar: Famous Indian rapper Divine will perform live in Silchar as part of the Makar Sankranti Festival 2026 celebrations. The concert is scheduled for today (February 7, 2026), at Sonai in the Cachar district of Assam.

Divine is one of India’s most popular hip-hop artists and is known for his powerful songs and energetic stage performances. He has a strong fan base across the country, especially among young music lovers. His performance in the Cachar region is expected to draw an enormous crowd from Silchar and nearby areas.

Apart from Divine, the festival will also feature performances by well-known artists, including Shreya Ghoshal, Rito Riba, Fakira, and others, making it a star-studded musical event for the region.

Shreya Ghoshal is scheduled to perform live on 8 February, known for her melodious voice and versatile singing across Hindi and several regional languages. She has delivered many chart-topping film songs and has received multiple national and international awards, making her presence a major attraction for the festival audience.

In Assam, Makar Sankranti is celebrated as Magh Bihu (Bhogali Bihu). It is a harvest festival marked by feasting, bonfires, burning meji, and traditional foods like pitha and laru, along with community celebrations and cultural activities.
