During the attempted hold-up, the militants reportedly fired two rounds in the direction of the driver.A border patrol team of Dima Hasao police witnessed the incident and immediately moved toward the spot. As the team approached, the suspected militants allegedly opened fire, prompting the police to retaliate. In the brief exchange of gunfire that followed, one suspected HPC-D cadre was killed on the spot.The deceased has been identified as Moody Hmar, a resident of Dima Hasao district. Police suspect the group was involved in extortion and other armed activities in the area.Following the encounter, additional police teams were deployed across nearby regions as a precautionary measure.
