Under the terms of the accord, both communities have committed to allowing paddy harvesting to proceed without further interruptions, ensuring that farmers can resume their agricultural activities peacefully. Additionally, the Pnar and Karbi villagers have agreed to cooperate fully with the ongoing investigation into the death of Oriwel Timung, a Tahpat resident who lost his life on October 8 during a clash between the two groups.

The meeting saw participation from key figures, including West Jaiñtia Hills Additional Deputy Commissioner and Border Magistrate GH Passah, West Karbi Anglong Deputy Commissioner and Superintendent of Police R Barua, as well as prominent headmen and representatives from community associations in both districts.

Officials have called on all parties to uphold the agreement and maintain peace to foster harmonious coexistence. This development marks a vital step toward restoring stability and promoting cooperation between the two communities along the Meghalaya-Assam border.
