Meghalaya: Edu Minister Urges Teachers to Prepare for Educational Reforms and MTET Compliance

Education Minister Lahkmen Rymbui called on teachers across Meghalaya to gear up for forthcoming educational reforms, emphasising the Supreme Court’s mandate requiring all teachers to pass the Meghalaya Teacher Eligibility Test (MTET).

Education Minister Lahkmen Rymbui called on teachers across Meghalaya to gear up for forthcoming educational reforms, emphasising the Supreme Court’s mandate requiring all teachers, except those with less than five years of service remaining, to pass the MeghalayaTeacher Eligibility Test (MTET).

Speaking at the Platinum Jubilee celebration of Pyndengumiong Government LP School in Mairang, Rymbui highlighted the evolving nature of the education sector and the need for teachers to adapt to new standards to enhance the quality of government school education.

“As reforms unfold, teachers must proactively equip themselves to meet emerging expectations,” he stated.

Rymbui praised the school for earning sustained public trust through the collective efforts of its teachers, managing committee, and local community. He noted that the school’s consistent enrollment reflects the strength of collaborative responsibility and community engagement.

He also commended the villagers and teachers for their initiative in hiring additional educators and funding their salaries through local contributions, ensuring high educational standards. Rymbui described this effort as a model for other schools striving to rebuild credibility. “The success of any school lies in the unity of its community, educators, and management,” he added.
