Meghalaya: Police constable arrested for assaulting daughter with hot water

A constable from the 2nd Meghalaya Police Battalion was apprehended for allegedly causing severe harm to his daughter at his residential quarters in Goeragre, near Tura.

The accused has been identified as Joshua G Momin.

The arrest followed a First Information Report (FIR) lodged at Tura Women Police Station, which accused Momin of throwing scalding water on his daughter.

The assault by the accused father resulted in serious burn injuries that required hospitalisation.

Reports also claim that the constable had previously subjected his daughter to ongoing physical and psychological abuse.

Momin was taken into custody on Tuesday, and police are continuing their investigation into the incident.
