The project, envisioned as a modern “incubation city,” will span 39 square kilometres in its first phase and include essential infrastructure such as roads, a sports complex, and other civic amenities.

Despite early resistance from some landowners, Zhaleo noted that community support has grown significantly. “After detailed consultations, villagers are now actively urging the government to expedite the development,” he said.

Groundwork is already in progress, with road construction and a sports complex under development. The planning firm has nearly finalised its blueprint, and the state is optimistic about receiving central government backing. “Our Chief Minister is fully committed to this mega project,” Zhaleo added.

On a separate note, Zhaleo confirmed that the recent no-confidence motion against the Kohima Municipal Council (KMC) chairperson and deputy chairperson has been defeated. The Deputy Commissioner conducted a hearing, and the motion failed. “The situation is now stable and under control,” he assured.

Nagaki City is being positioned as a solution to Nagaland’s growing urbanisation needs, promising sustainable growth, modern infrastructure, and improved quality of life.
