The elections turned into a high-stakes contest between the BJP–JD(U)-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and the Mahagathbandhan, led by the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and Congress. The outcome would decide whether Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, who had dominated Bihar politics for nearly two decades, would continue in power or if Tejashwi Yadav’s alliance would bring a generational shift in leadership.

According to Election Commission of India guidelines, exit poll results were not released until the completion of the final phase of voting. Once polling ended on November 11, leading agencies such as Axis My India, CVoter, Today’s Chanakya, Jan Ki Baat, and SOS were expected to publish their projections after 6:30 pm. These surveys, conducted by major media outlets and research groups, often gave an early indication of voter sentiment, though they frequently differed from the actual results.

The campaign trail had witnessed heated exchanges between political leaders. RJD’s Misa Bharti expressed confidence in a Mahagathbandhan victory, describing Bihar’s youth as “agents of change,” while the NDA leaned on Nitish Kumar’s governance record and the BJP’s organisational strength to maintain its advantage.

From the Ram temple narrative in Mithilanchal to appeals for social justice invoking Karpoori Thakur’s legacy, the election campaigns resonated with both emotional and ideological undertones across the state.

The BJP led the coalition with 74 wins from 110 contested constituencies, JD(U) secured 43 out of 115, and HAM won 4 of 7 seats. The Mahagathbandhan had finished close behind with 110 seats — the RJD claiming 75, Congress 19, CPI-ML 12, and CPI and CPM winning 2 each.
