Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman's two-day visit to Assam kicked off on November 7, 2025, with a warm welcome from Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma at Borjhar Airport, Guwahati. Her trip is part of a series of high-profile visits highlighting the government's focus on Assam's development.

Sitharaman is scheduled to attend the Tata Semiconductor Assembly and Test (TSAT) event in Morigaon, showcasing the state's growing industrial landscape and will interact with around 300 young entrepreneurs. She also inaugurated Guwahati's modern river ferry terminal, also known as Guwahati Gateway Ghat, and the Brahmaputra riverfront project, offering a scenic view of the river.

On November 8, Sitharaman will lay the foundation stone for the Swahid Kanaklata Barua State University in Gohpur, focusing on technical and vocational education. The university's development, approved by the Assam Cabinet, is estimated to cost Rs 400 crore.

Sitharaman's visit is expected to boost Assam's infrastructure and economic growth, with several major projects on the horizon. These include the new Guwahati airport terminal, a fertiliser complex in Dibrugarh, the Guwahati-North Guwahati bridge, elevated corridor in Kaziranga, and Silchar-Guwahati expressway. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah are also scheduled to visit Assam soon to inaugurate transformative projects.
