Man Seriously Hurt After Elephant Attack During Kerala Temple Event

New Delhi: A temple festival in Kerala turned frightening when a decorated elephant suddenly became aggressive and injured a young man.

The incident happened at Annamanada Mahadeva Temple in Thrissur during the Valiyavilakku festival. A 26-year-old man named Vivek was seriously hurt after an elephant called Akkikkavu Karthikeyan lifted him with its trunk and threw him to the ground. The accident took place on Thursday morning while preparations were going on for the Sheeveli procession.

The elephant had been brought to the temple for the ceremony and was decorated with ornaments. In videos recorded by people at the spot, the elephant can be seen suddenly grabbing Vivek and tossing him aside. The shocking footage has now gone viral on social media.

The incident occurred shortly before the Panchari Melam performance, which was to be led by Peruvanam Kuttan Marar. After the attack, the festival programmes were temporarily stopped.

After that, Vivek was quickly taken to Apollo Adlux Hospital in Angamaly for medical treatment. Meanwhile, mahouts managed to control the elephant and calm the situation. The elephant is now under expert observation to prevent any further incidents.
