 Strict Action Assured By Kiren Rijiju in Malviya Nagar Racial Abuse Case, Accused Arrested

New Delhi: The three women from Arunachal Pradesh who have been the victims of alleged racial abuse and criminal intimidation in South Delhi’s Malviya Nagar, Union Minister Kiren Rijiju, on Wednesday, assured that his office has been in continuous persuasion with authorities to get them justice.

He assured that strict legal action will be taken against the accused and that the matter is being closely monitored. The union minister further confirmed that the Delhi Police have already made arrests.

Talking to the media, Rijiju said, “On the recent Malviya Nagar incident involving three girls from Arunachal, my office has been in regular contact with the victims and the Delhi Police from the very first day. Whenever any issue concerning people from the Northeast arises in Delhi, we act without delay. In this case, too, the police responded promptly, and arrests have been made."

Rijiju further underlined that a special arrangement is created within the Delhi Police, including grievance redressal cells, in order to promptly address such grievances that involve people from the Northeast.

Reiterating the government’s commitment towards safeguarding and upholding the dignity and security of citizens from the Northeast region, the union minister said that such incidents shall not be tolerated in the name of racism.
