The woman, who vanished from her marital home in 2023, was initially reported missing by her family on October 23 of that year. Despite extensive searches yielding no results, her family alleged she was killed over dowry demands, prompting a court-ordered case against her husband and six in-laws under Section 304B (dowry death) of the Indian Penal Code.

For two years, the case progressed until the Uttar Pradesh Police’s Special Operations Group and surveillance teams traced the woman to Madhya Pradesh. Auraiya Circle Officer Ashok Kumar Singh stated, “She went missing roughly 18 months after her marriage. Following a missing person’s complaint and subsequent court orders, a case was filed against her husband and several in-laws. Our investigation led us to locate her in Madhya Pradesh, and she was brought back to Auraiya on October 1, 2025.”
