"Guwahati: Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel under the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) carried out multiple rescue operations between January 24 and January 28, 2026, tracing and assisting vulnerable passengers found alone or in distress at different railway stations and onboard trains.Advertisment According to official information, a total of 12 persons were rescued during the period, including eight minors and four adults. The rescued individuals included runaway minor girls and boys, destitute children, and unattended passengers identified during routine station surveillance and through complaints received via the RailMadad platform. Rescue operations were conducted at several locations under NFR jurisdiction, including Falakata, Lumding, Kishanganj, Rangiya, New Bongaigaon, Kamakhya, Katihar (East) and Guwahati railway stations. All rescued minors were handed over to Child Line units and recognized child care organisations for rehabilitation and further care. The rescued adults were produced before the respective local police authorities for necessary legal procedures. Meanwhile, the Railway authorities had advised passengers to immediately inform RPF personnel or lodge complaints through RailMadad if unattended minors or suspicious situations are noticed at stations or in trains.
