RSS takes the reins: Saffron think tank to decide BJP's Assam election fate

The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) is set to play a crucial role in deciding the BJP's candidates for the upcoming Assam assembly elections. According to sources, the RSS is not entirely satisfied with the BJP's functioning in the state, especially after the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) election results.

The RSS has appointed a team, comprising Nripen Barman, Tirthankar Das Kalita, Sripadeepan, and Basishtha Buzarbaruah, to scrutinize the BJP's candidate list. The team has also prepared a separate list of potential candidates for each constituency.
Sources indicate that the RSS is likely to advise the BJP not to give tickets to controversial MLAs. The Sangh is expected to finalize its list by December, which will be reviewed by central committee members Ullas Kulkarni and V Bhagaya, the northeast Prabhari.

The RSS is taking the Assam elections seriously and is working on a special strategy for the state. The Sangh's involvement suggests that the BJP is looking to revamp its approach in Assam and is seeking to ensure that the right candidates are given tickets.

The move is seen as a significant departure from the BJP's usual approach to candidate selection, and highlights the RSS's growing influence in the party's decision-making process.
