In anticipation of massive footfall and high vehicular movement during the IDFC First Bank India vs South Africa 2nd Test Match, the Guwahati Traffic Police on Thursday issued a comprehensive traffic advisory that will remain in force from November 22 to 26, between 6 AM and 6 PM daily.

Officials said the measures are aimed at ensuring “public safety, smooth traffic flow and an uninterrupted environment for emergency services” around the ACA Barsapara Stadium, where thousands of spectators are expected to gather for the five-day international fixture.

Heavy Vehicles Barred on 14 Major Roads

According to the advisory issued by the Office of the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic), Guwahati, all commercial goods vehicles and slow-moving vehicles will be barred from:

  • B.K. Kakati Road

  • A.K. Azad Road

  • A.K. Dev Road

  • Kula Basumatary Road (Barsapara Stadium Road)

  • Dr. Bhupen Hazarika Path

  • Mora-Bharalu Path

  • Rajib Gandhi Path (up to Jyotikuchi)

  • F.A. Road

  • Dhopolia Road

  • Bishnupur Road

  • RKC Road

  • Birubari–GMC Road

  • Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Road (Dakhin Gaon Tiniali to Lalganeh)

Officials stressed that the restrictions are necessary to protect “children, senior citizens, students and differently-abled pedestrians” during the event.

One-Way Movement Around Stadium

A.K. Azad Road

  • Vehicles allowed only from Lalganeh Tiniali → Cycle Factory Tiniali.

Kula Basumatary Road

  • One-way traffic from Barsapara Tiniali → Dhirenpara Tiniali, exclusively for vehicles with car passes.

  • No vehicle will be permitted from Dhirenpara Tiniali toward Barsapara on match days.

Access Control & Diversions

  • Vehicles without car passes arriving from Lokhra Chariali will be diverted via Arya Nagar.

  • No movement will be allowed along Mora Bharalu Road from either direction.

  • On Dr. Bhupen Hazarika Path, movement from the stadium side will be strictly prohibited.

Parking Restrictions & Designated Zones

Authorities have banned parking on major stretches, including:

  • Barsapara Tiniali → Dhirenpara Tiniali

  • Cycle Factory Tiniali → Lalganeh Tiniali

  • Ambari Tiniali → Champabati High School

One-side parking has been allowed from:

  • Champabati High School → Garchuk (A.K. Dev Road)

  • Dakhin Gaon Tiniali → NEF College (Kankalata Path)

Approved Parking Lots for Spectators

Via A.K. Dev Road:

  • Champabati Field – 150 LMVs

  • RCTRC Field – 50 LMVs

  • Ambari Rangpathar Field – 200 two-wheelers

  • Datalpara Field – 100 LMVs

  • Ganeshpara Field – 100 LMVs

  • Roadside (single line) Champabati–Garchuk – 250 LMVs

Via A.K. Azad Road:

  • Vishal Marriage Hall – 100 LMVs

  • Rolling Mill Field – 80 LMVs

  • Dakhin Gaon–Saukuchi Road – 50 HMVs

Entry Gates for Spectators (22–26 November)

  1. Gate 1A – Teams & PMOA

  2. Gate 1B – VIP car passes, commentators

  3. Gate 2 – Barsapara Road entry

  4. Gate 3 – R.G. Baruah Path

  5. Gate 4 – Rolling Mill Road

  6. Gates 5 & 6 – Dr. Bhupen Hazarika Path

Emergency Services to Remain Unaffected

The Traffic Department clarified that the restrictions will not apply to:

  • Ambulances

  • Fire tenders

  • Vehicles carrying lifesaving drugs

  • School buses

  • Milk vans

  • Oxygen cylinder carriers

  • Local residents

Post-Match Evacuation Plan

Vehicles parked inside the ACA Stadium will be allowed to exit toward:

  • Dhirenpara Tiniali

  • Barsapara Tiniali

However, no entry will be permitted into Kula Basumatary Road during the exit phase.

“Our priority is orderly mobility and public security”

A senior traffic official noted that the plan has been designed to ensure “zero congestion, safe pedestrian movement, and a smooth experience for spectators and commuters during the five-day international match.”
