Assam: Gauripur woman alleges blackmail, assault and fake marriage by lover; FIR filed

In a shocking case from Gauripur in Dhubri district, a young woman has accused her lover of exploitation, blackmail, and sexual assault, following a relationship that began with romance but allegedly turned abusive and threatening over time. The victim has filed an FIR at the Gauripur Police Station seeking justice.

According to the complaint, the woman, who had recently completed her graduation and aspired to build a career, entered into a relationship with a youth named Latiful Zaman from Tiamari village two years ago. Their romantic involvement soon led to a physical relationship. However, the situation reportedly took a dark turn when Latiful allegedly recorded their intimate moments on his mobile phone.

The woman alleges that Latiful used these videos and photographs to blackmail her for an extended period, threatening to leak the materials online if she did not comply with his demands.

The complaint further states that the woman was called to Latiful’s house, where his parents allegedly assaulted her. She also claimed that she was forced to sign blank sheets of paper under duress. In a more serious allegation, the woman said she was taken to the house of Latiful’s maternal uncle and kept there for a month, during which she was sexually abused.

According to the victim, the threats continued even afterwards. Latiful allegedly warned her not to reveal anything to anyone and left her at her aunt’s house late at night, threatening to release the obscene videos if she spoke out.
The young woman also accused the man of fabricating a fake marriage registration document, falsely claiming that the two had been married a year ago.

Unable to endure the ongoing blackmail and threats, the victim finally informed her family about the ordeal. She has now lodged a detailed FIR with the Gauripur Police, urging authorities to take strict action against the accused and ensure her safety.
