Arrchita received the prestigious honour for her compelling performance in the critically acclaimed film Despatch. With this win, she has emerged as one of the few artists from the Northeast to secure a Filmfare-level recognition in a newcomer category, drawing national attention to the region’s untapped creative talent.

The glittering awards night saw the presence of several prominent figures from the Indian film industry, including Vikram Motwane, Nikhil Advani, Alia Bhatt, Sanya Malhotra, Fatima Sana Shaikh, Vicky Kaushal and Richa Chadda, reflecting the stature of the event and the significance of the accolade.

Originally from Assam, Arrchita moved to Mumbai to pursue her education and began her professional journey behind the scenes as a costume designer. She spent nearly two years in the field before transitioning to acting, gradually carving a space for herself through short films, more than 30 digital advertisements, and appearances in popular shows such as Satyamev Jayate. She later made her mark in cinema with the Assamese blockbuster Rudra, starring opposite Ravi Sharma, and the Hindi thriller Despatch, where she shared screen space with Manoj Vajpayee under the direction of Kanu Behl.

Expressing gratitude after receiving the award, Arrchita described the moment as deeply humbling. She credited her team, family and mentors for their support, while also highlighting the Northeast as a region rich in artistic potential. She noted that working alongside acclaimed actor Adil Hussain in Rudra was a memorable experience and expressed hope that her achievement would open doors for more stories and performers from the region to gain national visibility.

Reflecting on the larger impact of her win, Arrchita said she may be among the first from Assam to receive such recognition in the newcomer category, but firmly believes that many talented artistes from the Northeast continue to make their mark across platforms. She expressed optimism that her success signals a broader shift towards greater inclusion and acknowledgment of talent from every corner of the region.

Arrchita Agarwal, also known as Arrchita Prakash, has built a diverse body of work across Hindi, Assamese and digital mediums. With experience spanning costume design, advertising, television and feature films, she is steadily emerging as a promising voice in contemporary Indian cinema.
