Chapor SBI Under Fire Over Alleged RBI Rule Violations and Customer Harassment

Serious allegations of administrative disorder and violation of Reserve Bank of India (RBI) guidelines have surfaced against the State Bank of India (SBI) branch at Chapor, causing severe inconvenience to customers and local residents.

According to the allegations, officials and staff of the Chapor SBI branch have failed to comply with RBI norms that mandate uninterrupted customer service during lunch hours. RBI guidelines clearly state that at least one staff member must remain available at the counters during lunch breaks and that 50 percent of the counters should remain operational. However, customers allege that all counters are routinely closed during lunch hours at the Chapor branch, forcing them to wait for hours and bringing banking services to a daily standstill.

As a result, customers and the general public have reportedly been facing continuous harassment and inconvenience, raising concerns over the functioning of the branch.

Meanwhile, a vigilant customer, identified as Pradeep Nag, questioned the irregularities and brought the matter to public attention through a social media post. Following this, it is alleged that an associate of the Chapor SBI branch manager threatened the customer and pressured him to delete the post. The customer was reportedly warned that an FIR would be filed against him if he failed to remove the content from social media.

The incident has sparked outrage among local residents, who are now demanding accountability, proper adherence to RBI guidelines, and an impartial inquiry into the matter.
