Elderly ICU Patient Found Dead on Hospital Balcony, Chaos Erupts at Nalbari Medical College

A shocking incident unfolded early this morning at Nalbari Medical College Hospital when a 68-year-old patient admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) was found dead under mysterious circumstances, triggering chaos and outrage within the hospital premises.

The deceased has been identified as Keshab Malakar, who was suffering from respiratory ailments, including asthma. He was admitted to the hospital by his family on February 8 and was shifted to the ICU on the same day. According to family members, Malakar had been undergoing treatment in the ICU for the past three days and had spoken normally with them on Tuesday night.

Trouble began early Wednesday morning when family members went to the ICU to offer him tea but could not find him in his bed. His sudden disappearance from the ICU sparked panic among relatives, who immediately sought answers from hospital staff. However, they allegedly received no clear explanation regarding how a critically ill patient could go missing from a high-security unit like the ICU.

As tension mounted, family members confronted doctors and nurses, demanding accountability. The situation soon turned volatile, bringing hospital operations to a temporary standstill.

After what relatives described as a significant delay, Malakar was discovered lying face down on the balcony of the hospital’s fourth floor. By the time he was found, he had already succumbed. The ICU is reportedly located on the sixth floor of the building, raising serious concerns about how the patient reached the fourth-floor balcony.

The discovery intensified the unrest, with grieving family members breaking down and accusing the hospital authorities of gross negligence. The situation became so tense that police personnel deployed at the scene reportedly struggled to restore order.

The tragic incident has sparked widespread questions among family members, relatives, and members of the public. Allegations of severe lapses in supervision and hospital security are now at the forefront, as demands grow for a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the patient’s disappearance and death.
