Guwahati: Student’s body recovered from Pandu College hostel, family alleges murder

A sensational incident has shocked Pandu College in Guwahati to the core after the body of a student was recovered from a hostel bathroom, triggering allegations of murder and administrative negligence.

The deceased has been identified as Rubail Alam, a B.Sc. third-semester student of Pandu College. His body was found inside the bathroom of the Ambikagiri Raychoudhury Boys’ Hostel on the college campus.

According to family members, Rubail had been missing since December 12. They alleged that despite informing both the police and college authorities about his disappearance, no serious effort was made to trace him.

The family has claimed that Rubail’s death was not accidental and alleged that it was a case of murder. They further alleged that two of his friends had been mentally pressuring and provoking him over online gaming-related issues for quite some time.

The family also claimed that they had already paid money to the two friends, alleging the existence of a racket linked to online gaming, which they believe ultimately led to Rubail’s untimely death.

Following the recovery of the body, senior police officials rushed to the spot and launched an investigation. Further details are awaited as the probe continues.
