Indian Army Mentorship Programme Prepares Border Students for Sainik School Entrance

The Spearhead Division, operating under Spear Corps, has successfully completed a focused coaching and mentorship initiative for 48 students from remote border villages of Sarli, Koloriang and Daporijo in Arunachal Pradesh’s Upper and Lower Subansiri districts. The programme was aimed at equipping young aspirants with the academic skills and confidence required to appear for the Sainik School Entrance Examination.

Under the initiative, students received systematic academic training in key subjects including Mathematics, General Knowledge and Intelligence Tests. The sessions were conducted by dedicated Army instructors in collaboration with trained local educators. To ensure effective preparation, the programme incorporated regular mock examinations and periodic assessments, allowing instructors to address learning gaps and refine students’ performance.

In addition to classroom teaching, students were provided detailed guidance on examination techniques, including question paper handling, time allocation, answer revision and accurate completion of OMR sheets. These sessions were designed to reduce common errors and enhance overall exam efficiency.

Given the challenging terrain and limited connectivity of the region, the Indian Army also facilitated secure transportation for the students to Itanagar and back to their villages. The journey was conducted under strict supervision, with armed escort, medical support, accompanying teachers and continuous mentoring to ensure safety and morale.

Officials noted that the initiative reflects the Indian Army’s ongoing commitment to nation-building by nurturing talent in border areas, promoting discipline and patriotism, and opening pathways for youth to pursue quality education and future leadership roles.
