"Protests at Tezpur University have subsided after the Joint Secretary (Education) assured students that Vice-Chancellor Shambhunath Singh would face a strict administrative inquiry and is barred from university administrative matters. However, as no concrete decision was announced, students resumed protests, blocking the university gate and detaining the delegation. The situation improved around midnight when the Joint Secretary provided written assurance, leading the students to clear the path. The students have decided to boycott exams and employees will not cooperate with administrative tasks until their demands, including Singh's removal, are met. The protests had brought the university to a standstill, with students demanding action against Singh.
