DY365 Feb 14, 2026 14:24 ISTGuwahati: Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha has announced that the Vande Bharat Express will soon be introduced to strengthen the state’s rail connectivity with the rest of the country. He also revealed that development projects worth nearly Rs 1,300 crore are currently underway across Tripura.AdvertismentThe Chief Minister made the remarks while virtually laying the foundation stones for three infrastructure projects in Udaipur. He said the state government is working in close coordination with the Centre to ensure that development initiatives and welfare schemes benefit people at every level.CM Saha stated that the newly launched projects are aimed at improving infrastructure, encouraging planned urban expansion, reinforcing environmental safeguards, and stimulating economic growth. He further disclosed that preparations are in progress to upgrade the Agartala–Udaipur road into a four-lane highway. The expansion is expected to ease congestion, improve transport efficiency, and promote regional trade.In the healthcare sector, the Chief Minister announced that an Ayurvedic hospital will be established at Tepania in the Gomati district, broadening access to alternative systems of medicine in the state. He also noted that 450 students are currently pursuing MBBS degrees and 63 are enrolled in BDS courses in Tripura, adding that steps are being taken to set up a dedicated health university.Highlighting achievements in education and governance, Saha said Tripura has attained full literacy status, following Goa and Mizoram. He added that the state has received 347 national and regional awards across various sectors. The administration has also implemented a paperless system from the Secretariat down to the panchayat level. Saha further pointed out that the length of national highways in the state has expanded to around 923 kilometres from 198 kilometres previously. He expressed optimism that Tripura is poised to attract investments worth nearly Rs 15,000 crore in the near future.
