According to officials, Akash Das (25), son of late Gopal Das, attempted to cross the barbed-wire fencing from the Indian side into Bangladesh.Despite being stopped and warned by Border Security Force (BSF) personnel, he ignored the instructions and continued scaling the fence. BSF troops then opened fire, injuring him severely in the abdomen.The injured youth was immediately rescued by BSF personnel and taken to Dharmanagar District Hospital. As his condition was critical, he was later referred to the GBP Hospital in Agartala for advanced treatment.During the inquiry, BSF identified that Akash Das had been assisted by a human trafficker, Sushil Das, son of late Sachin Chandra Das and a resident of Ward No. 6 under Brajendranagar Gram Panchayat in North Tripura. BSF troops arrested him from his residence and handed him over to Kadamtala Police Station.Police have registered a case against the accused under relevant provisions of India’s criminal and immigration laws.
