The association pointed out that the delay has exacerbated unemployment among thousands of qualified candidates holding NET, SET, and PhD degrees, leaving them in a state of uncertainty. Additionally, many aspirants are nearing or surpassing the upper age limit for recruitment, risking the loss of years of academic preparation.

The letter also raised concerns about the adverse impact on Assam’s higher education system, noting that vacant posts are currently filled by ad-hoc guest faculty, which compromises the quality and continuity of teaching. AARSA emphasised that a timely recruitment drive would not only address unemployment but also ensure a stable and qualified faculty, thereby strengthening the state’s academic institutions.

The association urged the Chief Minister’s office to take immediate action to advertise and fill the vacant Assistant Professor positions.
