Assam: Akhil Gogoi Claims Rupjyoti Kurmi 'Lost Sleep' Fearing Gyanashree Bora As Opponent

Guwahati: Raijor Dal leader Akhil Gogoi has claimed that BJP MLA Rupjyoti Kurmi has lost his sleep after Raijor Dal announced Gyanashree Bora as their candidate for the Mariani Assembly Constituency.

Speaking to the media, Gogoi said, “Ever since Raijor Dal announced its list of candidates, Mariani MLA Rupjyoti Kurmi lost his sleep as he will now have to face Gyanashree Bora as his opponent. He may have claimed that he has no issues with Gyanashree as his opponent, but in reality, he is scared.”

Akhil Gogoi said that while he wanted to contest against Kurmi in the upcoming Assam Legislative Assembly elections, his supporters in Sivasagar could not let him go, and hence, his party decided to field Gyanashree.

Akhil went on to describe Rupjyoti as an Asur who he claimed would be slain by a “little girl”.

He further alleged that during Rupjyoti Kurmi’s tenure as an MLA, he has done no significant work for the people, adding that Rupjyoti has very little knowledge of laws and how to carry one with work needed to be an MLA.

“Rupjyoti is not in a good state of mind now”, he said, advising journalists to keep a safe distance from Kurmi.

Gogoi claimed that since Rupjyoti Kurmi is not in a good state, he might someday “lose it” and assault journalists with their own booms.
