The deceased were identified as Sauhard Rai (20) and Sarbavartika Singh (20) from Uttar Pradesh, and Radhika (19) from Bihar.

The tragedy unfolded in the afternoon when the trio, on a recreational trip, was swept away by strong currents after one student slipped into the water and the others jumped in to save her.

Sarbavartika’s body was found Saturday evening, while Sauhard** and Radhika were located Sunday morning, November 9, by teams of police, SDRF, and local volunteers who braved darkness and treacherous terrain.

Confirmed as NIT Silchar students, the victims’ families have been informed. The institute has suspended classes in mourning and is offering counselling support. Officials have renewed warnings against visiting high-risk waterfalls during peak flow seasons.
