"Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday outlined the BJP"s political and organisational strategy for the state, expressing confidence in expanding the party"s electoral footprint and highlighting a series of central leadership visits scheduled through the end of December.Advertisment “Our target is to secure 50 per cent of the vote share. If the people give us 60 seats and allow us to form the government, that is enough,” CM Sarma told reporters. He said the BJP will place special emphasis on women and youth leadership and will not be distracted by opposition politics. “We are not concerned about what the opposition is doing. Our focus is on strengthening the organisation and governance,” he said. Taking a swipe at the Congress, CM Sarma remarked, “The Congress appears to be preparing for 2036. They have already conceded several key seats for BJP for 2026 and 2031. They are surviving only on a fixed vote bank; beyond that, they have nothing. Even if a candidate from Tamil Nadu contests here, they will get only their fixed votes.” On alliance dynamics, Sarma said discussions are ongoing with all partner parties. “I am in touch with all our allies. There is no need for meetings in luxury hotels. A phone call from the car is enough,” he added, noting efforts to keep both factions of the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) aligned with the NDA. BJP State Executive Committee Meeting The BJP State Executive Committee meeting will be held at Kalakshetra, Guwahati, on December 26 and 27, Sarma confirmed.
