Serious allegations of corruption have once again surfaced against Nabajit Barman, the Block Development Officer (BDO) of Binnakandi Development Block under Hojai district of Assam. He was earlier transferred as a disciplinary measure over alleged financial irregularities amounting to crores of rupees.

In a press meet, officials from the Block Development Office alleged that, “despite his transfer to Dhubri, Barman has allegedly continued to collect money in the name of VB-RAM G Bill (Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission, Gramin) government schemes.

It is alleged that funds were collected under the pretext of securing Technical Sanctions (TS) for various development projects. It is also claimed that his driver was being used as an intermediary to collect money from beneficiaries and contractors.

Furthermore, a large broker network is involved with the officer in supporting, and widespread corruption has been taking place for a long time in the name of implementing development schemes.

Concerned residents and members of the block development department have demanded strict action, stating that a mere transfer is not sufficient. They have called for the officer’s immediate suspension and a thorough, transparent investigation into the matter.
