Assam: Man Kidnapped and Beaten in Guwahati, Rs 5 Lakh Ransom Demanded

GUWAHATI: A shocking kidnapping case has been reported again from Guwahati, this time from the Satgaon area.

Mahidul Ali, a car dealer and resident of Mathgharia, was allegedly kidnapped by a group of youths on Saturday evening. 

According to reports, a young man named Horu (Xoru), who lives in a rented house near Mahidul’s residence, called him and came to meet him. He then cleverly took Mahidul to Satgaon, saying that he had some work there.

When they reached Basanti Bazar in Satgaon, five youths forcibly pushed Mahidul into a car. The accused put drugs in his hand and recorded a video to falsely show that he was involved in drug dealing. They then demanded Rs 5 lakh as ransom and threatened to hand him over to Satgaon Police Station if he did not pay.

When Mahidul refused to pay, the accused beat him badly inside the car using iron rods and a wrench. He was seriously injured. The gang also took Rs 45,000 in cash and a gold chain worth around Rs 1.5 lakh from him.

The kidnappers drove him around from 8 pm to 11:30 pm in a Swift Dzire car. Later, they stopped at a lonely place on Ganesh Baba Path in Satgaon and again assaulted him.

After hearing his shouting, residents came out, and the accused fled from the spot, leaving him behind. The victim later went to Satgaon Police Station and filed an FIR. 

After that, the police took the case seriously. It is alleged that the same gang has been involved in several similar cases recently. Some parts of the incident were captured on CCTV cameras.
