Organised by the All Tai Ahom Students’ Union (ATASU), the rally transformed the town’s roads into a sea of humanity, with protesters linking arms in a giant human chain that stretched from Serakapar to Station Chariali.

Waving placards and chanting anti-government slogans, the massive crowd shook the streets, creating an electrifying atmosphere of defiance.

From every corner, people poured in—shoulder to shoulder, eye to eye—until the entire stretch pulsed with a single voice: “Grant ST status now!”

The protesters issued a stern warning to the BJP government, vowing to intensify agitation if their long-pending demand is ignored.

The rally, one of the largest seen in Upper Assam in recent times, paralysed normal life in the historic town as the human chain symbolised unity and resolve.
