Otherwise, the BJP will rule for another five years,” Ajmal warned. He refrained from criticising Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, describing him as a “very big leader,” and expressed willingness to support the party. “Whatever we give for Congress, let it be good,” he said.Ajmal revealed that the AIUDF had initially been part of the mahajot in Assam but was later sidelined. “We don’t know what our fault was. Later, we learned that people with beards and caps were not allowed on stage,” he alleged, in an apparent reference to perceived discrimination. He noted that the Congress now appears to be in talks with AIMIM leader Asaduddin Owaisi, adding, “Now they are talking with Owaisi.”On his political future, Ajmal said he is not mentally prepared to contest the upcoming Assam Assembly elections due to health reasons and the emotional toll of a major previous defeat. “Such a big election was lost. But I will campaign for our candidates,” he assured.Maintaining his independent stance, Ajmal said, “I believe in the ‘ekla chalo’ (go alone) policy and will continue accordingly. But if anyone wants an alliance with us, we are open to talks.”Also Read: “Judiciary Must Remain Free From Pressure,” Says Justice Ujjal Bhuyan at RGU Bihar PollsAdvertismentAdvertisment Read the Next Article
