He spoke about Nani Palkhivala’s rise and his arguments in key cases including Golak Nath, Bank Nationalisation, Privy Purse, and the historic Kesavananda Bharati case, providing students with rare insights into the evolution of constitutional jurisprudence and the enduring importance of the basic structure doctrine.In addition to constitutional discussions, Justice Bhuyan provided a candid assessment of the legal profession. He reminded students that law demands discipline, integrity, and sustained commitment. He urged young graduates to strengthen their knowledge of procedure and evidence and to view litigation as the most enriching training ground for any lawyer. “The Bar remains the school of hard knocks,” he said, emphasising that perseverance and ethical clarity, rather than glamour, are the profession’s true rewards.The event began with a warm welcome by Prof. (Dr.) Alak Kumar Buragohain, Vice-Chancellor of RGU, who said the interaction with Justice Bhuyan would serve as a significant inspiration for students.
