Assam: Three, including doctor, die after road accident in Morigaon

At least three people died in Morigaon, Assam, on Monday night after they met with an accident near the Silchang area. Of the three, one was a doctor, while two were medical staffers.

Morigaon: A road accident in the Silchang area of Morigaon district in Assam claimed the lives of three individuals on Monday night.

As per reports, the three deceased include a doctor as well.

The doctor, according to local sources, is from the Morigaon Civil Hospital.

The deceased has been identified as Dr Kantheshwar Bordoloi, a physician at the Morigaon Civil Hospital, along with hospital staff members Ashik Rahman and Manas Mahanta, both employees of the Morigaon Maternity and Multi-Speciality Hospital.

The fatal crash occurred on National Highway 27 at Silchang late at night.

Police and emergency services rushed to the scene as locals reported the accident.

Although they were taken to the hospital by the emergency teams, all three victims were declared dead on arrival.

Police have now initiated an investigation into the cause of the accident, with preliminary reports suggesting high speed or poor visibility may have been factors.

The car they were travelling in showed signs of extreme rollover which reportedly takes place due to high speeds, a local source said.
