Assam To Showcase Economic Ambitions On Global Stage At Davos

Guwahati: In a landmark development for the region, Assam is poised to make its inaugural appearance at the prestigious World Economic Forum (WEF) annual meeting in Davos, Switzerland, an event recognised as the world’s foremost gathering of economic and political leaders.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has announced that Assam will represent India at this global summit, joining a select group of states that have previously participated, including Maharashtra, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, and Rajasthan.

“For the first time, the Government of India has extendedAssam the opportunity to attend theWorld Economic Forum annual meeting in Davos. I will depart for Davos on 19 January for a four-day visit, where I will engage with world leaders and economists, presenting Assam’s strengths on an international platform. This is a significant opportunity granted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to our state,” CM Sarma stated.

The summit, commencing on 19 January, will offer Assam an unparalleled platform to highlight its emerging investment prospects. During his visit, the Chief Minister is expected to hold discussions with global industry leaders, policymakers, and prominent corporate figures, emphasising Assam’s potential and inviting foreign investment.

Sarma will also participate in panel discussions and bilateral meetings, where he will outline Assam’s development strategy and long-term vision for growth.

The World Economic Forum annual meeting brings together influential figures from government, business, civil society, and academia to address pressing economic and geopolitical challenges. For Assam, this represents a vital opportunity to build investor confidence and broaden its international reach.
