Assam: Two attempt to murder man in Nagaon's Rupahihat

Guwahati: A man was allegedly assaulted and stabbed with a knife in the Rupahihat area of Nagaon, Assam, on Sunday over a family dispute.

The incident took place in the Pub Singimari area under Rupahihat, Nagaon.

The man identified as Khalilur Rahman was attacked by two individuals which has been termed as a murder attempt.

The attackers were identified as Muksidul Islam and Tajimul Islam of the same village.

They assaulted Khalilur Rahman with a sharp object before fleeing the scene.

Khalilur Rahman, who was left in a critical condition following the attack, was rushed to Nagaon Medical College & Hospital for immediate treatment.

According to reports, the altercation stemmed from a heated verbal dispute the previous evening between Khalilur Rahman and members of the accused.

It has further been claimed that the attackers ambushed him while he was on his way to the market, leading to the violent assault.

Tension continued to simmer in the area after in a fit of rage, locals vandalised and damaged the motorbike belonging to the two assailants who managed to fled the scene.

Police from Rupahihat arrived at the scene and are conducting an ongoing investigation into the matter.
