Assam: Two Injured as Female NIT Student Gets Drunk, Rams Car into Tea Stall in Silchar

Silchar: In a horrific hit-and-run incident that was reported at NIT Silchar during their tech fest on Monday night (January 19), a speeding car driven by a female NIT student seriously injured two persons, including a student along with another person at a tea stall.

The two seriously injured individuals have been admitted to Silchar Medical College in Cachar, Assam.

According to reports, the incident reportedly occurred at the T-Point near the APJ Abdul Kalam Learning Resource Centre on the campus, following a concert where rapper Raftaar performed.

Allegedly, the car bearing registration number AS-11E-5572 hit a shop at the T-Point, and one student was injured in the accident, who is undergoing treatment at the Silchar Medical College and Hospital.

According to reports, she was attending a concert by Bollywood’s famous rapper Raftaar at NIT. After the event concluded, the female student was driving her Hyundai i10 at high speed inside the campus when she lost control and crashed into a tea stall. In this frightening accident, one NIT student along with a local youth at the tea stall, sustained serious injuries. Meanwhile, other students at the tea stall narrowly escaped with their lives.

Currently, both are in critical condition receiving treatment. Following the incident, police arrived at the scene and seized the vehicle involved in the accident.

Eyewitnesses claim that the driver of the vehicle was a young woman seated in the driver’s seat, a student from NIT. Additionally, several other girls were in the back seat of the vehicle. All of them were reportedly in an intoxicated state, according to eyewitness allegations.
