Assam: Veterans Swabhimaan Rally 2025 Held in Guwahati to Honour Ex-Servicemen

The Veterans Swabhimaan Rally 2025 was held today at the 222 ADO Playground within the Narengi Military Station in Guwahati, celebrating the contributions and sacrifices of retired soldiers from Assam and neighbouring regions.

The event was formally inaugurated by Assam Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya, who also interacted with the families of fallen heroes and injured ex-servicemen, extending financial assistance and gifts to them.

Organised under the supervision of the Eastern Command Headquarters, the rally aimed to address the challenges faced by families of martyred soldiers and retired servicemen while honouring their distinguished service and sacrifices.

The event underscored the government’s commitment to the welfare and dignity of the veteran community.

During the programme, Governor Acharya delivered a heartfelt address, emphasising the pivotal role of soldiers in safeguarding the nation. “The protection of our country is the ultimate mission of our soldiers. It is because of their unwavering dedication that the national flag flies high and citizens can sleep in peace, knowing our borders are secure,” he said. He lauded the armed forces for their role as vigilant guardians of the nation’s frontiers.

The rally saw the participation of several senior officials, including Major General AK Sharma from the 51 Sub Area of Narengi Military Station, Air Marshal A.K. Gogoi, and retired senior military officer Rana Pratap Kalita, among others.
