"The Chief Minister"s Special Vigilance Cell (CM's SVC) conducted coordinated raids on Monday targeting properties linked to Nupur Bora, Circle Officer of Goroimari revenue circle in Kamrup, Assam, and her alleged associate, Lat Mandal Surajit Deka of Barpeta, as part of a corruption investigation. Advertisment At Bora"s residence in Gotanagar, Maligaon, authorities seized a significant haul of gold and diamond jewellery. Meanwhile, approximately Rs 10 lakh in cash was recovered from Deka"s home in Dangarkuchi, Barpeta. The Vigilance Cell enlisted the State Bank of India (SBI) to assist in counting the seized cash. Sources revealed that Bora"s bank lockers in Barpeta and Golaghat are now under investigation for potential additional assets. Reports indicate that Bora and Deka had returned to Guwahati on Sunday night from a brief trip to Arunachal Pradesh, with raids commencing early Monday morning. Bora, an Assam Civil Service officer since 2019, previously served in Barpeta and Karbi Anglong, where she was allegedly implicated in a multi-crore land scam. During her Barpeta tenure, she reportedly developed a close relationship with Deka, leading to personal controversies, including Deka"s alleged expulsion of his former wife from their home. Fresh allegations of large-scale irregularities followed Bora to Goroimari, prompting the ongoing investigation. A team of Assam Police is following up further investigation."
