Assam: Youth Found Dead Under Suspicious Circumstances in Guwahati Apartment

Guwahati: A 28-year-old man was found dead under suspicious circumstances at an apartment in Guwahati’s Jayanagar area on Friday morning.

The deceased has been identified as Mariyan Chetia, son of Kushal Chetia, a contractor based in Sivasagar. Mariyan reportedly arrived late Thursday night at Flat No. 104 on the first floor of Indraprastha Apartment.

According to sources, Mariyan often visited the flat in a Fortuner and attended parties there. On Thursday night, he reportedly visited the apartment multiple times. The residents discovered his body the following morning.

Preliminary reports suggest that excessive intoxication or a possible drug overdose could have led to his death. However, the exact cause remains unclear and is under investigation.

Following the incident, a team from Basistha Police rushed to the scene. And forensic experts also arrived to collect evidence and conduct a detailed investigation.

The body has been sent for post-mortem examination to determine the cause of death. Police are questioning witnesses and reviewing CCTV footage from the area to understand the circumstances leading up to the tragedy.
